Nectarine, whose homeland is China, comes from the same species as the peach. Its scientific name is Prunus Persica.
Nectarine, which is Nectarina, is often thought of as a hybrid of peach and plum. Whereas, nectarine is a fruit that is about the size of a ripe peach, hairless, closer to red in color and harder. Nectarine can be easily distinguished from the peach we know with its unique structure. Today, although the most nectarine production is made in the United States, it is imported to all over the world from Spain, India, Greece, Italy and, of course, China.
There are more than 100 varieties of nectarine, which has a different aroma. Nectarine extract, which spoils in a shorter time than peach, is also known as the ‘Drink of the Gods’ in ancient Greece.
